Dear Friends,

I hope you are all well and safe during these strange and challenging times. Authors work hard to reach readers, especially when promoting a new book. I hope to use this section on my new website to communicate any news and giveaways instead of sending out a newsletter. For now. I’ll funnel social media friends here for the fun stuff! Let’s see how it works. Let me know what you think and I’ll adjust and make changes as I go. Thanks for any feedback!!!

Since this is all brand new, let’s celebrate with a giveaway!! (US only–sorry ) I’ll soon have a signed, print copy of my upcoming novel, Noel, Alabama up for grabs…

Answer the following question in the comments section to enter:  CONTEST CLOSED! ****

What is something you’ve done this summer that’s made you feel normal? Something that made you forget, for a moment, that the world is banana pants?

I went to a very secluded beach awhile back and was able to really breathe.

I got married! And it felt like “the good old days” for a short time 😍

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:24 am

Congratulations on the beautiful new site!

Baking has been the only normal thing, or that’s how it feels. Lol

Honestly, I feel like I’ve lost part of myself during this time.

We took our annual summer beach trip. Sitting in the sun and listening to the waves made me forget the crazy that has become our world!

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:25 am

I’m thrilled you were able to do that. I know many weren’t.

Reading books always takes me away from reality, and I’ve been able to stay home and read more books this summer.

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:26 am

Me too, Karen. I remember when we’d sit in the same room and read. LOL!

We have still been gathering with my husband’s family at his parents’ cottage for the 3 summer weekends…Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day (in a few weeks.) This is a tradition that has been going on for about 12 years. Can’t wait to read Noel, Alabama!

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:29 am

Family is so comforting! I’ve been with mine off and on throughout the pandemic. I can’t wait for you to read it too. Please let me know what you think!!

Sounds a little dull but played golf with my son, it felt good to be normal!

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:29 am

Golf has been Doug’s saving grace throughout this pandemic. He had to shut down his practice for almost two months.

I went to Northern Ga. To get some clean mountain air. I sat on my porch and read . So relaxing and was much needed after all of the craziness going on right now in our world. Two weeks of awesomeness.

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:30 am

I’m dying to get away again, Debra! North GA sounds just right.

I went to a Master Gardener meeting that we had but we sat two to a table. The meeting felt somewhat normal.

I can’t believe I missed your contest on Readers Coffeehouse yesterday. I was on it off and on for contests, I’m from Alabama and love small towns.

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:33 am

I know, Kathy!! The response yesterday on Readers Coffeehouse was overwhelming! What an amazing event…

I love doing grocery pickup and getting home and cooking! Meal prepping helps me relieve stress and forget about the wonky circus happening around us.

Looking forward to reading your book Susan!

My son played baseball this Summer. So being at the ballpark made things seem a little normal!

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:36 am

I know how much he loves the game and how much he missed it in the spring. Glad y’all made it to the ballpark this summer!

  13. Connie Turner on August 13, 2020 at 10:43 am

Unfortunately/Fortunately my summer has been consumed with back surgery and recovery. Not easy but I know I’ll be so much better so I’m good! Can’t wait for your new book Susan! 💖

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:38 am

I hope you’re feeling better from your surgery! Back pain stinks because it is constant. Hoping by the time you feel better, we can all move about more freely, Connie.

I have every one of your books. Great read. I’ve read all of them more than once. Whether I get the signed copy of Noel or not, I want this one too and can’t wait to read it. So proud of our southern, hometown girl. Keep up the good work.

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 11:51 am

Kittie, you’ve been one of my most trusted readers! Thanks for always being willing to give me your feedback so quickly! Not sure how this one got by you!! It was a quick turnaround!

Being able to have a couple family members over for grilling or cooking made things feel a little normal for a short time. I’m so thankful to have family living so close!

    • Susan Sands on August 13, 2020 at 12:30 pm

It is a blessing to have your family nearby. I’m lucky in that I have my mom and my middle son nearby, as well as some of my husband’s family (who are my family as well).

We had a social distance birthday party for a family member – outside and no masks since it was outside and we kept our distance but it almost felt normal. Beach trip in September.

  17. Heather on August 15, 2020 at 7:21 pm

We bought a house and moved to AZ! The house has pool that I get into daily. It sorta feels like I’m on a beach!

    • Susan Sands on August 16, 2020 at 12:22 pm

How nice! Moving is such hard work and comes with so many changes, but how nice that you ended up with a lovely poolside setting!! Congrats on your new digs!
